Hey Athena!

While we anticipate the election of the new Faculty Heads next Monday, it is also time for some of you to embark on the exciting journey of joining Athena Faculty Committee 15/16! Many of you have indicated your interest to run for Faculty Committee and we are as excited as you are! But before we proceed to the interviews, we have some tasks for the candidates to complete, depending on the role you have chosen to run for!

Sports and Logs I/Cs (yep, it’s a double role): Create a suitable cheer on Athena and perform it during the interview.

Publicity I/Cs: Create a faculty shirt design and present both the design and your portfolio during the interview. Optional: You may create a video on Athena and present it during the interview.

Dance I/Cs: Choreograph a 45s segment of a dance that you deem suitable for POP 2016 and present it during the interview.

Activity I/Cs: Create a simplified proposal for FO, including detailed elaboration on one of the following:

1) Theme (concept)

2) Venue

3) Games

4) Brief Programme Flow and content

5) Workplan

You have a maximum of 3 minutes to present your proposal.

Secretary Treasurer:

Collate a list of potential sponsors (around 20) which will be willing to sponsor us for future Faculty Outings and present it during the interview.

The allocation for the various interview slots will be released soon and we’ll inform you as soon as possible. Do come prepared for the interviews and we look forward to seeing you guys! 😀

Hi Athena!!

This is the last day of Fac CIP! So for those coming this Saturday to Bukit Merah, here are some directions to bring you over!

Exact address:

BLK 117, Jalan Bukit Merah

Directions:

Alight at Tiong Bahru MRT, exit to Tiong Bahru Road in front of Tiong Bahru Plaza

Alternatively, buses 147, 167, 175, 196, 197, 961 or 961 C will bring you to Blk 201, which is just a few blocks away.

Cross the road and walk along Jalan Membina until you reach a main road junction.

To make sure that you are on the right track, you should be passing by Zhangde Primary School!

Once you reach the road junction turn left and continue walking until you reach Tiong Bahru Orchid. Blk 117 is just inside.

The whole walk should take less than 15 minutes!

This is the layout of the blocks to guide you all! Block 117 is where we will be meeting. The Senior Activity Centre (SAC) is at block 117 is where all the furniture and terrarium workshop will be at. Blocks 115, 116, 117 or 124 will be the block(s) you will work in! (Refer to the map below)

There are many hawker centres around that feature many food options for you to choose from!

1. Jalan Bukit Merah Blk 112 market and food centre (just opposite)
2. 111 Coffee Shop (opposite, near the market too)

Do be reminded that the attire this Saturday will be the same: your Fac CIP shirt and berms/long pants (no shorts!). Note to NOT bring bags or bulky items along, but DO bring over rags and newspapers!

Hi Athena!!

Hope you all had fun last Saturday during Fac CIP!

Your friends who went must have told you their experience, and we are sure it was an interesting one. So for those coming this Saturday to Lengkok Bahru, here are some directions to bring you over to the fun!

Exact address:

BLK 52, LENGKOK BAHRU void deck

Directions:

Alight at Redhill MRT, exit from Exit A to Tiong Bahru Road.

(you will see Ananas Café!)

Walk along the MRT station towards the right, until you see this sign.

Cross the traffic light and walk towards the direction of the Bt Merah Sec School sign.

On the way, you will pass by a hawker centre with a blue roof which you can buy lunch from later!

Continue on your way until you see an open space with brown, beige and red hexagonal bricks on the floor and a shelter with a red roof.

Walk through the open space to reach block 57 (right beside this open space).

Continue walking along block 57 to reach block 52. Congrats, you have reached the meeting point!

The whole walk should take less than 15 minutes!

After the hard work, most of you will be looking forward to some good food. Fret not, there are plenty of great choices around!

Hello there Athenians!! We hope that Term 2 has been treating you well thus far!
After all the orientation hype has died down, are you starting to miss faculty activities? Well not to worry, we have one coming your way!! Many of you have signed up for Fac CIP and well, this Saturday marks the start of the 3-weeks long programme.

For those who are going for this Saturday’s CIP @ Telok Blangah, here are some directions that will hopefully help!!!

There will be buses that will bring you there from VivoCity!

Take bus 65, 123, 123M or 855 from the bus stop opposite VivoCity (14119) and alight 3 stops after that at BLK 40 (14379). The journey including waiting time will take less than 15 minutes!

Continue walking until you see the carpark on the right.

Continue walking along the carpark. Take note of safety!

You will see this playground here eventually at the end of the carpark.

Look out for this area and this will be our meeting area!

From there, some classes will be proceeding to BLK 41 and some BLK 29. Your Faccomm members will lead you there but for those who are coming late here are some directions for you 🙂

Look for BLK 38 and continue walking until you reach the food centre.

Faccomm members will also be stationed around to direct traffic! In the event that you get lost, do not hesitate to contact any of the faccomm members to ask for help.

Do be reminded that the attire on Saturday will be your Fac CIP shirt and berms/long pants, and do not bring bags/ other bulky items!!

It’s been a few weeks past Orientation, and everyone’s starting to settle down into the flow of lessons and homework. As we look ahead to the start of a new term in the place we call our second home, we should also look back into the days which have brought the C1s of Athena Faculty together!

Throughout Orientation, all you Athenians, together with the other 3 faculties, went through your very first Faculty Meeting, War Games, CT Games, Sodache Challenge and finally POP, and we your senior FacComm are very proud to say that all of you got very much closer together, much more zi-high and much more pumped up with spirit! These are what define Athena, and you have to carry on this spirit of never giving up and fiercely giving our best, so that we can continue to be the most zi-high faculty in HC – a very bonded group of green-wearing people! 😀

Hopefully these pictures brought back some memories of those times with your classes and fellow Athenians! Even though we did not win the Faculty Shield, you all have won in all your senior FacComm’s hearts! <3 <3 <3 Because you put in your very best; because you have had fun; because you kept the Athena spirit going strong!

As we set forward to conquer the future, reminiscent the past because while everything has to come to an end, we are the ones who make a choice to remember these memories.

Message from Dance I/Cs:

POP may seem eons away to some but to us, it seemed like it was just yesterday. We are so glad to be able to lead your batch through this POP journey and you guys have been nothing but amazing. We had high hopes (probably way too high) for ourselves and for you guys and although we didn’t come out victorious, you guys definitely did not let us down!!! For real. Your batch has taught us so much. The dance is anything but easy to learn but the perseverance that y’all have put into memorizing your steps and executing them with perfection, THAT IS TRULY ADMIRABLE. The effort and dedication you have put into the faculty is so comforting. Thank you guys for everything!!!!! 🙂

All the endless hardcore dance practices and shouting at you, we hope you will take away more from it than just our angry expressions. We hope you have enjoyed the dance, fostered new friendships and learnt to work together as a huge team to nail this dance! (and maybe learn to shake your booty hahaha) This dance wasn’t about us or fac comm, it was about you guys, coming together to create this masterpiece!! AND YOU GUYS DID AMAZING. POP isnt just a dance off against the faculties, it is a dance that makes us a faculty. And to see you guys dance as a faculty was truly truly heartwarming. 🙂 Through it all, we have all left the event with a little part of Athena in our hearts. All the best in conquering the future! 纸短情长，就此搁笔。

Message from Dramafeste I/C – Shen Han:

Thank you very much for coming down on the 5th and 6th of March to watch our play as well as those of other faculties! We would like to thank the J2s and J1s who took the time to volunteer and help out in Ekstasie’s production as without them, it would not have been possible to make the play a success. Even though Ekstasie wasn’t perfect, we hope that you guys enjoyed the play and found it a memorable night!

For those who didn’t manage to make it, there is always next year and those who want to continue helping out in Dramafeste are welcome to do so 🙂

Looking ahead, as you start stressing out over studies, do not fear! You still have your classmates with whom you’ve had so much fun and together let’s overcome all the challenges ahead as one Athena!

Your C2 seniors have finished their block tests, and together let’s all look forward to the upcoming exciting Faculty CIP and Faculty Outing!

We ventured and held a faculty outing within our own school. We hope you enjoyed the unique experience! It has been a week since Sweet Allure, but we hope memories of that night stays with you and we sincerely hope that you had as much fun as we did!
