We sincerely hoped that through our Faculty Committee 16/17 Introduction on 11 July 2016, you now have a better idea of who we are as a Faculty Committee!

HI EVERYONE! With the recently concluded Faculty Head Elections and Faculty Committee Interviews, our new Faculty Committee of ’16/’17 have been chosen. Here’s a warm message from our Faculty Heads of 2016 and 2017!

“Hello fellow Athenians!

We are your newly elected Faculty Heads, James and Jia Ying from 16S66! Thank you for your support!

We sincerely hope that all of you enjoyed yourselves at our Faculty Outing at Wavehouse Sentosa! Times like this will be what we will always remember long after we have graduated.

We would also like to thank everyone who ran for Fac Comm, we could see your strong spirit and your love for Athena. Athena is a really warm family because of enthusiastic individuals like you. And let’s keep this spirit high! 🙂

All geared up for FO, only to find that you don’t know the way there? NO WORRIES, here are some directions to bring you over!!

The route: Vivo City → Sentosa Station → Beach Station → Wave House

If you’re inside Vivo City, follow the signs to go to Sentosa Boardwalk

It will lead you outside the building. Walk straight and turn left.

You will see the boardwalk. This part is easy, just follow it all the way 🙂

After you exit the boardwalk (i.e. cross the gantry), turn right and walk along the sea. You will pass by Singapore Seafood Republic.

Turn left and take the stairs to cross the bridge.

Turn right here and walk pass the restaurants.

Follow the signage that points to Sentosa Express.

Take the train to Beach Station (Don’t worry it’s free!)

bi) How to go to Wave House by WALKING

Turn right after coming down from the escalator.

Walk straight and you will pass by this sign pointing to the direction of Wave House.

Continue walking straight and you will pass by iFly, MacDonald’s, Luge (one of our sponsors! :D), and reach Siloso.

Walk along this long stretch of road. No worries, it’s a breezy and relaxing walk 🙂

When you walk past Emerald Pavilion and Mambo Beach Club, you should be excited because Wave House is just right ahead!!!

Turn left after coming down from the escalator

Look out for the sign which says “Complimentary buggy service to Wave House Sentosa” because that will be the pick-up point. Just hop on the buggy and you will reach Wave House in no time! (Do note that there will be a waiting time, especially if many people choose this route)

Tada!! You’ve arrived at Wave House!! 😀

We’re just 4 days away from Fantasea and WATER YOU GONNA WEAR?

As mentioned in the previous blogpost, we do not have a strict dress code for this Faculty Outing. However, if you are still uncertain of what to wear, here are some SAND-SATIONAL ideas for you!!

However, take note that the following outfits are not acceptable!! Please do understand as this is still a school event. We know you look greeaattt in them too.

READY FOR THE BEST BEACH EVENT EVER??? HOPE YOU ARE AS PUMPED UP AS ALL OF US!!!!

1. Thinking of what tie matches your shirt? Suits? Dress? Walking in heels?

FRET NOT, THERE IS NO DRESS CODE – WEAR WHATEVER MAKES YOU COMFORTABLE!!!!  Remember, it’s a chill event! (Unfortunately, you aren’t the little mermaid, so no revealing clothes / bikinis!)

Please wear dark-coloured clothing as there will be water games!! We also recommend a change of clothes in case you get drenched.

2. Flash your ticket we have given to you (valid only on 7 May) to get 50% off the Luge (U.P $19) – Please do come early as Luge’s opening hours are from 10am-915pm!

3. Do try to come earlier if you would like to take photos by the beach before it gets too crowded!

4. The FREE-FLOW BUFFET is from 5.30-7.30 so do come early to fill your tummies!!!

5. Want to take a photo with your class but the photobooth queues are too LooOoooooOOoNG?? Athenians, do not worry for we have allocated specific timings for your class to take photos!

Hey Athena!

While we anticipate the election of the new Faculty Heads next Monday, it is also time for some of you to embark on the exciting journey of joining Athena Faculty Committee 16/17! Many of you have indicated your interest to run for Faculty Committee and we are as excited as you are! But before we proceed to the interviews, we have some tasks for the candidates to complete, depending on the role you have chosen to run for!

Pubs IC:

Complete at least 1 of the following tasks, and present it during the interview. You may complete more than 1 task if you wish.

1. Come up with a design for the Athena Orientation banner for Orientation 2017.
2. Create a video for Athena.
3. Come up with a MOCH page design for Athena.

 Sports IC:

1. Come up with a cheer for Athena and present it during the interview.

Dance IC:

1. Choreograph a  45 second segment of dance that you deem suitable for POP 2017 and perform it during the interview.

Activity IC:

Create a simplified proposal for Faculty Outing, including detailed elaboration on one of the following:

1. Theme (concept)
2. Venue
3. Games
4. Brief Programme Flow and content
5. Workplan

You have a maximum of 3 minutes to present your proposal.

Secretary-treasurer:

Complete all tasks below.

1. With the below list of logistics required for a Faculty Outing, find potential sources for each item and state its price. Also indicate how you have found out about the price (eg calling suppliers, via websites etc),  while working within a$1000 budget.

• Packet drinks for 400 pax
• Photobooth service for 2 hours
• Paper wristbands x300
• Banner with sewing service x1
• Acrylic paint x8 bottles
• Duct Tape x9 rolls
• Raffia string x7 rolls

Present your findings in a suitable table format. You may rename or reorganize the items to your liking.

2. On the same document as your above task, collate a list of at least 5 potential sponsors for the Faculty Outing. State a reason as to why each sponsor would be willing to sponsor the event.

3. Below is a link to a document (AthenaFC_Sec-treas Interview Task) containing the minutes for a formal meeting. In the document, there are mistakes with regards to formatting consistency. Do your best and try to identify as many mistakes as possible and edit it. Save the document with the name ‘AthenaFC1617_SecTres_<your name>’.

Hi Athena!

This is the last day of our Faculty CIP! Hope you had a meaningful experience the past two Saturdays 🙂 This time round, our Faculty CIP will be held at Redhill, and here are some directions to help you find your way there!

Exact Address:

Multi-purpose Sheltered Area @ Redhill Rd

Directions:

Alight at Red Hill MRT, exit from Exit A to Tiong Bahru Road (you will see the Ananas cafe). Cross the road here.

After you cross the road, walk straight and up the stairs.

Cross the road and follow the sheltered path.

Turn left and cut through the void deck towards multi-purpose sheltered area.

And you have arrived! This multi-purpose sheltered area is our assembly point! 😀

In the event that you lose your way, please do not hesitate to contact your senior ct rep or any faccomm member for help.

Other notes:

Do be reminded that the attire this Saturday will be the same: your Fac CIP shirt and berms/long pants (strictly no shorts!!!). Note to NOT bring bags or bulky items along, but DO bring over rags and newspapers if you can!

For those who are coming this Saturday (16/4) to Lengkok Bahru, here are some directions to bring you over 😀

Exact Address:

BLK 53, Lengkok Bahru Void Deck

Directions:

Alight at Red Hill MRT, exit from Exit A to Tiong Bahru Road (you will see the Ananas cafe). Cross the road here.

After crossing the road, turn right and walk towards Jalan Tiong.

Make sure you spot the Jln Tiong sign 🙂

Follow the sheltered walkway until you see Blk 57. Cross the zebra crossing.

Turn left and walk across this pathway with red railings. 

Walk down this whole stretch of corridor, passing by SAC.

Continue walking into the carpark. The block directly in front of you is Blk 52. Turn right to walk towards Blk 53.

Walk to the void deck of Blk 53. And you have arrived!! 😀 This will be our assembly point.

Hi Athena!!

Dramafeste 2016 occurred just 1 month ago! We are sure all of you have had many great memories of the plays, and especially the cast and crew who worked tirelessly to make the event a spectacular one that was enjoyed by everyone! It is on this note that we would like to thank the following people for their valuable help and their priceless contributions to this combined effort:

The scriptwriters, Illio Suardi (15S6G) and Ronald Chiang (15S62) for pouring in their time and effort into writing a brilliant script for the play! They have worked for a long time, even before the start of the year, to write a script that everybody surely enjoyed greatly!

Ethan Lee (15S68) and Alfred Yip (15S6A), our Sets and Props ICs, for their endless hours in the workshop leading the juniors and teaching them how to get things done. Not only did they put in a great amount of time into the work they produced, they managed to make dazzling sets that impressed everyone who saw them!

The Lights and Sounds ICs, Zhu Jiaxi (15S7H) and Allyson Lim (15S62), who contributed greatly to the effects of the show and the sound system that enhanced the quality of the play, and always playing the mysterious music to creep everyone out HAHA

Our directors, Loh Jia Yi (15S7G) and Chan Yu Shin (15S7J) who were patient with their directing and never failing to make rehearsals enjoyable and fun, as well as imparting their expertise to the J1s, who definitely performed BEYOND our expectations!

The Make-up and Costumes ICs, Denise Lim (15S60) and Lim Fang Yi (15S7H), who were very creative in making the best of a limited budget to help beautify the actors and actresses!

Last but not least, we would also like to sincerely thank all the J1 participants for their enthusiasm, as it was only through your unending commitment and desire to contribute that Beyond was made a success. Thank you for all the positive energy you have injected into the work sessions be it through cast or crew, and being people with so much initiative and drive to put up the best show you possibly can, and we are incredibly proud.

Without them, we would not have been able to achieve what we did! Furthermore, we would like to extend our congratulations to the Sets and Props committee who won the ‘Best Sets’ Award, as well as Shang Ke from 15S64 for attaining the distinction of ‘Best Leading Actress’!

Over the weeks leading up to Dramafeste, everyone involved worked tirelessly to improve nonstop and we believe we have done Athena proud! Thank you once again for your dedication, and we hope you have enjoyed this rare experience.
