On 11 May 2012, the story of Athena was told…

No, wait, it started before that!

Your potential Fac Witch and Wizards embarked on a journey on Yellow Brick Road, fighting it out for the top spot in Emerald City.

And so, the journey began…

They faced competition

It definitely wasn’t easy

And at times they were faced with obstacles

But they endured the hardships, and finally arrived at Emerald City!

It doesn’t end there though…

And finally, the crowning of our Fac Witch and Wizard: Wayne and Yee Shin from 12S62!

But what’s Wicked without some songs? 

What’s Athena Faculty Outing without the crowning of GREEN KING?

Congratulations to Kelvin and Choong Hwer from S64 for winning the title of Green King!

 

Last but not least, we would like to thank the following people without which Wickout! would not have been a success:

Priscilla and ZhiXian, for being such wonderful emcees.

All participants and performers who were so enthusiastic in performing.
Junior FC for helping us distribute food during Wickout!
Huang Cheng for helping us with the capentry.

A Parting Note

Hello Athena!!

 

Firstly, thank you so much for coming down for Wickout. The truly wickedest fac outing ever would have been nothing without your enthusiasm and support! We hope you all had loads of fun with all the freebies, the fried food, the scramble competition, and the Fac Witch and Wizard. Oh right, and with that, congratulations to Wayne Teo and Yee Shin, 12S62! 😀

 

Today is our last day as your fac heads. As our term comes to an end, we would like to thank you for bearing with all our spasticness, zi-highness, autism and whatnot, and always showing your support to us, the fac comm, and the faculty. The journey has been an arduous one, no doubt about that. At the start, we weren’t exactly sure how we could live up to your expectations as fac heads, and what we could or could not do. There was a lot of confusion, conflicts here and there (we hope it didn’t show or affect any of you). As time passed, we learnt and grew, becoming who we are: as good Athena fac heads as we can be. Hope we did the title justice!

 

To the J2s, it as really awesome to experience our Hwa Chong lives together, especially during orientation when we swept everything, and even after, during Dramafeste and FOSH, we just kept winning! It’s great to see how far our batch can go, totally smashing all labels about us being the loser fac and about everyone finding it sian to be in Athena cause we (used to) suck so much.

 

To the J1s, though we did not manage to carry on the seniors’ winning streak, it’s amazing to see how though we didn’t really win many competitions, we all still had a very strong Athenian spirit which I would not hesitate to say is one of the strongest around. Proves to everyone that we don’t need to win silverware to affirm our pride for the faculty and to feel good about ourselves. Though we must say we were a little disappointed during campfire when we didn’t win anything, We’re proud to see everyone still high simply for being in this faculty. That was as good a lesson in spirit as any~

 

(Btw, Wickout had a really good turnout 😀 Really good.)
It seems, though, that one thing’s been true all along; you don’t really know what you’ve got till it’s gone.
As our summer come and passed, the green field (greener on our side) lives on within our hearts, to some infinity and beyond. Our time has come, as it inevitably does, but with pride and joy we hand down the legacy to the juniors. Nothing changes, though. Athena stands tall and strong.

 

That’d be what Athena really is; nothing but ourselves. All of us.

Hello ATHENA,

We’re only 43 hours away from the most Wicked Faculty Outing ever — are you excited??

It’ll be a well-deserved break from the intensive studying for lecture tests and the mad rush to complete tutorials, and the perfect opportunity to catch up with old friends, possibly meet new ones, or to just hang out with your fellow awesome Athenians. Either way, we promise you a Wickedly magical evening of pure unadulterated green fun!

HOW TO GET TO WICKOUT

Hello Athenians!

Are you excited about WICKOUT!! While you’re getting ready preparing for it, don’t forget to find out how to get there! Here are some bus routes that may be useful.

  • From Clementi MRT, take bus 189 (from the side opposite Clementi Mall). Alight after 7 stops at Kent Ridge Bus Terminal, and walk to Kent Ridge Guild House (200m away!
  • From opposite Buona Vista station /from Kent Ridge station, take bus 95 and alight at the NUS Central Library stop or one stop after.
  • From Clementi MRT, take bus 96 and alight after 8 stops opposite the Yusof Ishak House. Take 95 or 151 down to the next bus stop (NUS Central Library bus stop) and walk to KRGH!
  • From school, take 151 and alight opposite the NUS Central Library or one stop after.
  • From Kent Ridge MRT, NUS provides a shuttle bus service A1 and alight after 8 stops at “AS7”.
