HEY ATHENIANS! :D

The following is a message from Hanjing, our Dramafeste director. This is a fairly lengthy read… Originally from her notes at Facebook, reproduced with permission. Thanks Hanjing! :D

Hello there!

This may be a tad overdue, but it is a happy and thankful note from me, hope you’ll all get to read it. (:

I dont have the other people’s contacts… i dont know how they’ll get to read..

Firstly, i would like to thank some amazing people on earth – (pardon my limited vocab!)

Huiying Wenshan and the rest of fac comm for believing in me. Thank you guys for the faith, for the trust, no matter how unrealistic this show might have seen to you. Than you for always being there, always slogging your guts out, thank you for giving me the chance for working with you all for the past 18 days. :D

Zitao and Andai! For being in charge of the amazing set and amazing workmanship and gungho-ship. what will i do without two of you settling it for me? Under you great leadership the train was became a reality, and kenny need not buy a real train from smrt! :D

Pauline, for the hello kittiness and amazing work in collecting moeny, food, and sending messages to everyone! :D YAYE i have hello kitty candy for you okay :D :D :D

Kenny the ct rep the driller, claire the mega helper, justin the unwell but still chiong to school worker, damien the wood holder, wenshan the helper, jia qi the painter, yongjie the pub pro and more!!!! :) :) athena’s fac comm is filled with all you crazy people!

Timo and jingwei! for being crazy. haha. all performers are crazy. i’m glad you guys share very similiar sentiments about most of the drama issues and i am glad to have you guys to help me all the wayyyy despite how i spilled the froot loops oops.

Yongjie, Abner, Benjamin, for the awesome help in photog and publicity! You guys reminded me of the most important and most easily neglected people, big big big round of applause for the amazing work done! (PS. tons of friends grabbed me today, just to tell me how amazing they think athena’s publicity for df is!) yay! the show is over but your talents will never be!! :D

Amanda and Sianglin for the greeeeen script! you guys dont have facebook!? T.T

For the most co-operative cast – thanks for the tremendous effort!! you guys have made this whole experience the most exhilarating for me, haha, and i worry for you guys the most, like a nanny omg haha.

For the headless chickens, raped girl, rapists, news reporter, and dead people, you guys were fantastic!!! the most all rounded juniors on earth hehe! :D :D :D

For the set/costumes/props/makeup crew, good job, no, mega good job for being so so so professional! I’d hoped to share more experiences with you all actually, but you guys proved that you can be just as cool anyway! :) great job great job :]

Lights and sounds! You guys deserve much more! The last few days were the most hectic and insane time, but i hope you guys had fun playing around with the lighting and sounds boards and went through the most nerve wrecking tasks of the show! :D

You know, i still feel like i have much more i want to talk about for each group of you all, omg.

Fourteen days. Fourteen days were the number of days that we’d came together as senior junior athena dramafeste team. Frankly, it is the shortest and one of the most nerve wrecking experience ever! It’s like hatching an egg. No, much much faster. It’s like sliding down slippery slope. On friday, when you guys took over the stage with such amazing lights sounds acting and crewing, i was overwhelmed by emotions! On one hand i marvelled at how awesome you guys were, on the other hand i was watching the show with slight unease, knowing that it will be the last time we’ll ever stage this show.

Honestly, i had some sights on the prizes. But along the way, the prizes were the least of my concern, because as dramafeste crept closer, i came to realise that Hey, amongst the 70+ athenians, only a handful of us haver truly been exposed to theatre/drama productions, so i decided that i must let you all experience the magic that i have been exposed to for the past decade of my life (omg, i’m suddenly realising that i am not that young D:).

Every night, i tried to make sure all glaring problems are solved or at least accounted for and going to be worked on. every night i think about how i can make the next day even better, even more productive. I tried my best to involve everyone in the madness and feeling of participating in a full production. i admit that i have made mistakes along the way, one of whichis the interpretation of the script ():), but sigh, its too late now, i guess i have to live with that and move on…

late night rehearsals, insane set making, dinners, naps, full runs, tech runs, screw ups, naps, briefings and debriefs, warmups, etc etc. these are the experiences that were put together, for that bestest show last friday. We might not have won lots of prizes, but i can very proudly tell you that we have closed the margin between the shows. people still do remember us for the impact that we created, even after three days after dramafeste. And this impact will last longer that that. AND it’s not a negative type of memory :) they remember our realistic set, remember our cool army guy, psychotic girl, cute and extremely likeable couple and our auntie! :D

the curtains closed. this chapter now comes to a close too. may we move on, away from these… faultlines, each of us with an experience that can never be duplicated. :D

P.S. Lets have a flash mob on SMRT one day, and dance the athena fac dance like how you rocked LT1 after the performance on friday! ;) JKJK! (i’ll upload the video when i can..)

Love,
Hanjing.
