I still remember the first time we spoke to you in that little cozy corner of LT2 about our grand plan.

Do you?

Now that orientation and POP’s come to an end, let us let you in on something.

Huiying and I, our fac comm and our fac teachers, probably never ever treated the grand plan as something important. Yes well, it sure did feel good if we won, but in all honesty, our true goal was NEVER, i repeat, NEVER about wanting you juniors to win it.

It was a common goal, in fact, for all 4 faculties to strive towards. It was a great motivating factor, but at the end of the day, what was the real, important thing?

It’s spirit.

That’s the real grandeur in our grand plan (:

Like the rest of the fac comm and councillors, I’m still goggy and all from the lack of sleep, but all my mind is filled with are scenes from POP, dear juniors.

When you assembled for POP clad in the green gloves which weren’t that fitting but you wore it anyway,

When you shouted the different floors which actually didn’t make sense but did so with so much gusto,

When you raised up the 4 fingers and left the middle one down,

When some of you shed tears after the results were announced,

When you all chanted and cheered along with us,

When you danced our very own FACULTY DANCE with so much pride,

We knew that we’ve accomplished what we’ve set out to do.

The grandeur of this grand plan has always been in getting you to LOVE our faculty, to BELIEVE in Athena.

Till the extent that whatever the results, it doesn’t really bother us because faculty spirit is what matters.

Like my old friend always says,

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

After the results of POP, the fac comm gathered outside audi.

We were SMILING, BEAMING with pride and CELEBRATING.

Because we were happy.

The only heart ache for us was to see some of you cry, so we’re here to say, DON’T BE SAD!

It’s been just a 3 week-long journey, but the sense of accomplishment in us is unbelievably ginormous when we look at you juniors.

Finally, I just want to dedicate this airtime to a special group of 17 people called the fac comm.

They aren’t just your senior ct reps or maybe seniors who have special talents.

They are amazing people brimming with so much passion for Athena that they would do almost anything.

They’ve been the greatest source of inspiration and support for both Huiying and I and through this entire journey and we’ve grown so close that we’re like family.

Kenny, Andai, Zitao, Yehan, Alvin, Justin, Damien, Yongjie, Claire, Jiaqi, Pauline, Wanchu, Daryll, Girvan, Chenxing.

Ohana means family, remember?

Without all of them, and needless to say, you, this entire orientation + post orientation journey would have been pointless. Luckily, they’re here and so are you (:

Thank you juniors. We really love you.

Still keeping all of you on our minds,

Wenshan and Huiying,

on behalf of our ohana.

P.S. Do stay tuned, a full-blown orientation+ post orientation post will be posted soon, won’t postpone one, sumpa.
