I still remember the first time we spoke to you in that little cozy corner of LT2 about our grand plan.
Do you?
Now that orientation and POP’s come to an end, let us let you in on something.
Huiying and I, our fac comm and our fac teachers, probably never ever treated the grand plan as something important. Yes well, it sure did feel good if we won, but in all honesty, our true goal was NEVER, i repeat, NEVER about wanting you juniors to win it.
It was a common goal, in fact, for all 4 faculties to strive towards. It was a great motivating factor, but at the end of the day, what was the real, important thing?
It’s spirit.
That’s the real grandeur in our grand plan (:
Like the rest of the fac comm and councillors, I’m still goggy and all from the lack of sleep, but all my mind is filled with are scenes from POP, dear juniors.
When you assembled for POP clad in the green gloves which weren’t that fitting but you wore it anyway,
When you shouted the different floors which actually didn’t make sense but did so with so much gusto,
When you raised up the 4 fingers and left the middle one down,
When some of you shed tears after the results were announced,
When you all chanted and cheered along with us,
When you danced our very own FACULTY DANCE with so much pride,
We knew that we’ve accomplished what we’ve set out to do.
The grandeur of this grand plan has always been in getting you to LOVE our faculty, to BELIEVE in Athena.
Till the extent that whatever the results, it doesn’t really bother us because faculty spirit is what matters.
Like my old friend always says,
“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
After the results of POP, the fac comm gathered outside audi.
We were SMILING, BEAMING with pride and CELEBRATING.
Because we were happy.
The only heart ache for us was to see some of you cry, so we’re here to say, DON’T BE SAD!
It’s been just a 3 week-long journey, but the sense of accomplishment in us is unbelievably ginormous when we look at you juniors.
Finally, I just want to dedicate this airtime to a special group of 17 people called the fac comm.
They aren’t just your senior ct reps or maybe seniors who have special talents.
They are amazing people brimming with so much passion for Athena that they would do almost anything.
They’ve been the greatest source of inspiration and support for both Huiying and I and through this entire journey and we’ve grown so close that we’re like family.
Kenny, Andai, Zitao, Yehan, Alvin, Justin, Damien, Yongjie, Claire, Jiaqi, Pauline, Wanchu, Daryll, Girvan, Chenxing.
Ohana means family, remember?
Without all of them, and needless to say, you, this entire orientation + post orientation journey would have been pointless. Luckily, they’re here and so are you (:
Thank you juniors. We really love you.
Still keeping all of you on our minds,
Wenshan and Huiying,
on behalf of our ohana.

P.S. Do stay tuned, a full-blown orientation+ post orientation post will be posted soon, won’t postpone one, sumpa.
ATHENA!
There is so much I would like to say that I don’t know where to start.
I guess a pretty good sum up of what we’d like to express right now is that, WE LOVE YOU ATHENIANS!
You were just simply awesome today, and we are so proud of you guys.
We danced our hearts out. We shouted our loudest. We showed the others what it truly meant to be Athenian.
Even though we did not win the POP, I just really want to say that we are already the champions, and i’m not even trying to be clichéd and cheesy; I mean it from the bottom of my heart. We are the champions. We gave it our all, we shook the dance floor.
As we, your dance I/Cs, were on the stage doing this same dance for possibly the 100th+++ time, this one final dance just felt different. It was just a feeling of pure joy and overflowing pride. Seeing you guys enjoying yourselves, smiles on your faces, shouting with so much conviction, we knew at that moment that nothing else does matter. The moment was glorious; we were as one with the same dance moves, same green identity. All that mattered was that that we were all united with the same heartbeat.
The issue was never about winning, but about bonding as a faculty, doing something that identifies us together, performing our best together. Regardless of the results, knowing that we have done our best is already more than enough.
There are no regrets, no sadness and no sorrow.
We your faculty committee and i’m sure all of your C2 seniors are so proud of you all for continuing the legacy, displaying the imba strong Athenian spirit!
We have had so many of your seniors come up to us after POP to tell us how good we were this year and how proud they are of you. Even seniors from other faculties thought that we were great. Juniors you are awesome!
We can’t thank you enough for all the effort and time put into learning the faculty dance. You guys have really surprised us with your great enthusiasm and love for your faculty. Even those of you who’ve never danced before/think that dancing is not exactly your forte came down for dance sessions and put in your best effort to learn the dance. You deserve a standing ovation! Thank you guys for all the encouragement, be it on the tagboard or by physical action coming for dance sessions, we are really happy and touched. We really couldn’t ask for anything more. We really couldn’t ask for a better batch of juniors than you all.
We will miss dance sessions with you guys; the laughter, the sweat and the determinance youve showed us, like refusing to stop dancing and go home even after you’re dismissed.
Lastly, thank you for letting us have the honour of being your Dance I/Cs, to share with you the pride of being an Athenian and the joy of dancing. It’s been a wonderful and special journey shared with you Athenians batch ’10. Thank you for the time we’ve had together, you will always have a special place in our hearts.
We love you juniors! <3
With overflowing love and gratitude,
Your Dance I/Cs
Jiaqi, Daryll and Girvan
on behalf of the Athena faculty committee.
