On 20th May 2009, otherwise known endearingly as Combined Sports Meet 09, the Faculty of Athena formed a fearsome block of green among the many colours filling up the stands of the terraces of the school field. The Faculty of Athena, had a relatively high concentration of green people wearing their favourite faculty shirts, despite the popular belief that PE attire was to be worn. It is with deepest regret to announce that this phenomenon caused many other people to be GREEN with ENVY.

This fearsome block of green/white took the terraces by storm when it started cheering its very first cheer. This fearsome block of green rocked the terraces with their loud and undeniably irresistible voices. This fearsome block of green, grew even stronger and larger as the highly anticipated Faculty Races drew closer. Seniors from the Faculty even placed down their coveted Physics SPA notes and clambered to the stands to support their favourite athletes, mostly donned in green by pure coincidence.

It was time for the Faculty Races.

The Faculty Heads, along with the Faculty Committee 09/10, led the faculty in cheering for their CTmates, their faculty mates and their schoolmates, as one CT, as one faculty and as one Hwachong. “A-A-Athena!” This fearsome block cheered as its athletes took off and zoomed past the track. The athletes put their best foot forward and the results paid off. They achieved highly commendable results.

For that, the Faculty of Athena is proud of them and all athletes who have fought tooth and nail, ran, jumped, thrown things for the glory of Athena. For that, we as one Athena, are proud of you.

Athena is also proud of the Athenians who cheered with us despite all odds on that day. Athena is proud of the seniors who took time off their mugging sessions for the gruelling Physics SPA to support us. Athena is proud of the people who wore their green faculty shirts proudly on that day, though the instructions were not exactly that.

For all that, Athena thanks you for just being there and being green. We hoped you had a jolly good time just spending time with your friends, rooting for your faculty mates and cheering your hearts out. We hope you had a wide GREEN on your face and enjoyed yourself on CSM.
